Frequently Asked Questions:
I’m not a very good golfer, does that matter?
Absolutely not. You do not have to be an expert to volunteer with us, you just have to enjoy golf and working with kids!
What am I supposed to do as a volunteer coach?
The biggest thing, especially in the younger classes is making sure the kids are having fun and being safe. Our volunteer coaches are here to encourage and support our youth, while helping with basic golf knowledge and knowhow. This is your opportunity to mentor the youth and get to know them.
My schedule is always changing, I can’t commit to any specific times and days, is that a problem?
Nope! With lots of different programs and facility needs, there are many opportunities to volunteer and it does not have to be a set schedule. We can work with you!
What do I do when I come to First Tee – Canton to volunteer?
The first thing you will always do is sign in on our volunteer book on the front desk! After that, the lead coach will inform you on the plan for that day’s programming. It is always helpful to show up 30 minutes prior to class starting to assist with set up. If you are here for something outside of programming, you will coordinate that with the contact who set up your volunteer hours.
I travel during summer. Do you have any fall/winter classes?
Yes! Thanks to indoor renovations summer 2017, we are able to offer year round programming. There are always opportunities to get involved!

As you consider volunteering for our chapter, know that the safety of our kids is our first priority. Please contact us regarding any questions about how we conduct programs and activities at our chapter.
