Scott Life joined First Tee—Canton in 2023 as the chapter’s Executive Director, bringing a wealth of experience—professional and personal— with him. Scott graduated from The Ohio State University and has lived in Cincinnati, Columbus, Dallas, New Orleans, Munich and Budapest. Celebrating 27 years of marriage with his wife, Laura, Scott has two kids who are proud Buckeyes, just like dad. Sophia is a recent graduate of Ohio State and works in Columbus; Tommy is in his fourth year at Ohio State. Scott and Laura also enjoy doing life with three dogs, Beau (11), Wrigley (10) and Stella (9). Scott enjoys golf, working out, boating, concerts and traveling. 

Mindy graduated from the University of Mount Union and has worked as a newspaper reporter (still a freelancer) and as the Director of Juvenile Programming for North Branch Library for years before enjoying her career here at First Tee – Canton. She has volunteered as a third generation Girl Scout Leader and NE OH Girl Scout Delegate and currently volunteers on the board of The Friends of the Library. Mindy’s husband, Wayne, is a First Tee Lead Coach and her two children are volunteers, also. Her daughter Brooke, 20, is a senior at Ohio Wesleyan University, and her son, Reid, 18 is a senior at Perry High School. She enjoys her time listening to the beautiful music her children make at their symphonic wind ensembles and choral concerts, painting, writing, camping, kayaking and golfing.

Terry graduated from Alliance High School where he was a 4-year letterman in both football and baseball.  He moved to Orlando and worked construction and maintenance at Church Street Station. While in Orlando, he also played semi-pro baseball. Coach Terry has four kids TJ, Tiffany, Trevor and Tealee. At the age of 38, Coach Terry began golfing and became a golf professional at the age of 40. He was one of the golf professionals at Rosemont Country Club and Aurora Country Club before starting at First Tee – Canton in 2009. After a nearly 15 year run as Program Director, Terry has “semi-retired” and now focuses on Groundskeeping here at First Tee – Canton.

Carin Herberghs has been part of the First Tee Canton team since 2016.  She has a cat, Josie and enjoys traveling, reading and getting together with family and friends. Born in West Palm Beach, Florida, Carin lived there for twenty-five years before moving to Canton, Ohio.  She has been involved with children since 1990 working in various preschools. After receiving her Early Childhood Education degree, she worked as a preschool teacher. Carin was also a Sunday school teacher and worked for a family as their Nanny for their three children from infants until the children went to preschool.
